WESTERN INTERIOR SEAWAY

All locations in this collection show examples left behind from the mid to late cretaceous Western Interior Seaway that opened 100 million years ago, it lasted 60 million years and only vanished during the late cretaceous 70 million years ago. Small Pockets of water remained during the paleocene but eventually dried up which marked the true end to its existence, what it left behind is sedimentary basins and badlands.
